Sailing across the oceans in a yacht was not something Marilyn had thought of until the opportunity arrived. As a sailing novice and at the age of 56, her adventure began. This book is an account of her experiences, from a female perspective. Living in close quarters with her partner and two friends on a boat, threw up some interesting challenges. How did she cope with fear in the face of danger; with the long ocean passages and homesickness? How did her relationship survive? In the book you will find the answers and also find out how both couples faced challenges together.
Whether you want to race or enjoy the summer sun, Sunfish and Sailfish boats provide entertainment for the whole family. One great advantage of these small crafts is their simplicity. Not only are they easy to transport, assemble, and store, but even children can master the basics of sailing these boats. This adaptable boat design lends itself to whatever you make of it: a private yacht, a floating retreat, or a swift racer.
In this concise guide, Chaille and Larry Kelly share the delight of their Sunfish and Sailfish experiences and cover the fundamentals of sailing and racing these boats.
Few words of introduction are needed for this story, excepting such as may refer to the sources of the details involved. The outfit of the funeral ship is practically that of the vessel found in the mound at Goekstadt, and now in the museum at Christiania, supplemented with a few details from the ship disinterred last year near Toensberg, in the same district. In both these cases the treasure has been taken from the mound by raiders, who must have broken into the chamber shortly after the interment; but other finds have been fully large enough to furnish details of what would be buried with a chief of note.
